Effective planning is important to help to save human life and reduce suffering.

This ISO standard gives guidelines for planning, establishing, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and improving preparedness for mass evacuation. It provides a framework for mass evacuation planning for all-hazards and includes a process to systematically consider each activity during mass evacuation planning in order to develop plans that are evidence-based and that can be evaluated for effectiveness. The aim is to help governments to meet their obligation of saving human life and reducing suffering.
